Supanova- Perth

Sunday, 30 June 2013

Yesterday we attended Supanova! For those of you who don't live in Australia, it's a pop culture expo similar to Comic con/Wai con, but encompassing general pop culture such as Harry Potter, Game of thrones, etc. It is definitely one of my favorite annual events in Perth, where you can feel at ease in your own (or someone elses) skin. The highlights of this year were seeing author Raymond E. Feist and watching the cosplay competition- if time allows, I definitely have plans to enter next year.

I am a big fan of the fantasy genre- I have actually exclusively read only fantasy novels for years. Some of my favorites are the Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (Kingkiller chronicles) and the Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive) by Brandon Sanderson. I have just finished all the books that are out from Peter V. Brett's series, the Demon Cycle. My sister and boyfriend actually went as warded warriors from this series and ended up matching, whilst I was the odd one out and went as an elf. I have always had a fascination with elves, they are always portrayed as being cold, beautiful and powerful. I guess those traits are attractive to me.

The Red Rooster in the background totally adds to the ambiance!

Yanto as a warded warrior/cutter.

Steph as a warded warrior.

Yanto made this cloak for me. What a keeper!

It's even reversible!

I made the chain headpiece myself- it took about 5 minutes!

She's supposed to be exterminating demons, but I suppose an innocent elven bystander will do -__-.

I think this is my favorite photo of the day. Warriors looking off into the distance to the unknown...

I am already looking forward to next year!
