Men's Hair Trends 2013- The Samurai Ponytail

Tuesday, 24 September 2013

Last Summer in Australia, everywhere you looked men were sporting what I like to call 'One Direction' hair- short sides and back with longer hair on top.

Wow that's a lot of makeup!

Months later, I have been noting what seems to be a natural progression into what I call the 'Samurai' where the sides have been kept short and the top left to grow long enough to tie in a ponytail on top of the head. Yanto's hair first became long enough to tie up a few weeks ago and we thought it looked hilarious because no one else had a ponytail. However these days I see the 'Samurai' hairdo almost every day! Here are some pictures after cutting the sides almost bald.

Personally, I like the hairstyle- I think it makes him look more eccentric considering the large nerdy glasses and penchant for fresh kicks. However, most others I see sporting this look seem to be bearded indie chaps!

Has anyone else noticed the 'Samurai' 'do walking the streets of Australia? Do you dig it?

Update- this is what it looks like out of the ponytail:

Skrillex? is that you?
