Stylenanda 3CE Gel Eye Liner Review in #Love

Wednesday, 22 January 2014

Stylenanda has an incredible knack for making me step out of my comfort zone and experiment with items that I would usually never wear or use. Today's case in point is the 3CE gel eyeliner in a dark red color, #love which I received in my Bntnews beauty box. Yes, red!

Claims
The gel is a vibrant, vintage burgundy color, waterproof and lasts all day with a matte finish and gold shimmer.

Packaging
The eyeliner is housed in a square fancy frosted glass container with rounded edges. Classy vibes! The top twists off to reveal a small amount of product compared to the container. It comes with a brush slightly wider than what I am used to for a gel liner, but is stiff enough to draw sharp lines.

The Product
The gel is extremely creamy and glides over my eyelids so smoothly that I can almost line my entire eye in one stroke! The pigmentation is great, one coat is enough to achieve maximal color payoff. As you can see in the photos below, the brush is perfectly capable of drawing a sharp, tapered wing. There is supposed to be a gold shimmer finish, but I do not see any gold.

As fellow Bnt girl, Joanne pointed out in her review, this gel eyeliner is not fast drying. It will take about 2 minutes to fully set but once it does, it will not budge for the rest of the day. This may be a problem if you have eyelids capable of transferring product to your crease. That being said, the slower drying time allows you to blend and use product as a cream shadow!

I received a few compliments on this eyeliner, which really tells me the color is super (I hardly ever get compliments!). Interestingly, everybody perceives this eyeliner as pink, not deep burgundy.

In this look I am only wearing #love on my eyelids as a winged line. As the color is warm, I paired it Tony Moly's backstage eyeliner in choco brown on my lower lash line for a soft and romantic feel. Personally, I would not pair this color with black, I feel it would be overwhelming on me and bordering on Goth. Finish with a girly flower crown and a nude lipgloss.

I only added 2 more steps to achieve this second look. I blended more product onto my lids with a fluffy brush and then added a dark brown eyeshadow on my lash line for a gradient effect. A tip if you want to use this particular color as an eyeshadow- blend it well into a round shape instead of a wing to avoid having chunks of red visible on your outer lids when your eyes are open. This way, the red will be visible and evenly distributed the whole way around your eyes when they are open, giving a softer, hazy effect to your look.

I am really glad I had the opportunity to try out this product as I would not have purchased this color of my own accord. Although it is not fast drying, this con turns into a pro as it allows you to use it as an eyeshadow. I would definitely recommend this product and will make a conscious effort to use it on a frequent basis. I hope this review will encourage you guys to experiment and try out new colors! Overall, I found this color to be extremely unique and surprisingly wearable as both a liner and eye shadow- you're practically getting two products in one!
