BRTC Jasmine Moist Pact Pressed Powder Review
Wednesday, 26 March 2014
Hello, I'm back with another amazing Korean beauty find from my Bntnews beauty box! I was most excited about reviewing this particular product because I absolutely LOVED the Jasmine whipping essence from BRTC's Jasmine Moist System line!
This pact contains a 'moisture-coated pressed powder for dry skin' and contains a whopping SPF 50+. The clump-free formula evens out the skin, provides intensive hydration and creates a bright complexion.
Traditionally, powders are usually for setting makeup and providing a matte texture. This is precisely why I have been avoiding powders lately as they cling to the flakes on my dry skin, emphasizing its uneven texture. This product is unique because it's one of the only powders I have come across that specifically caters for dry skin.
Now I'm not usually a 'packaging' person, but in my eyes, the packaging on the box and compact is perfect! It's a super pretty and unique lilac color with silver accents that definitely stands out from the sea of black makeup products in my stash. However, I may be bias because I have a soft spot for pastels, especially lilac ^^.
The compact is palm sized and contains a mirror that is large enough to be used when applying the product. The provided puff is of high quality- it's dense and spongy and does not pick up too much or too little powder. It sits on top of a translucent plastic flap that flips open to reveal the powder.
The first thing I noticed about the powder is, strangely enough, the smell! It smells exactly like the Jasmine whipping essence, like sweet jasmine green tea and is just delightful to my nose. Below is a swatch of the powder using the sponge. The powder is extremely finely milled and super soft which means that it does kick up a little bit of powder dust. As it is so soft, it clings to the skin and applies like a (silky smooth) dream and does not emphasize my dry areas at all! The powder gives my skin a beautiful velvety soft glow and I have been addicted to it for the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, as you can see, the powder is far too light to be used on it's own on my tanned skin. However, I can use it with a powder brush over BB cream which I will demonstrate later.
To properly show the coverage of this product, I have applied the powder using the sponge over one half (your left side) of my bare skin. The sponge allows for the powder to give light to medium coverage- most of the unevenness of my forehead has been covered up!
If you have fair, dry skin, you could definitely use this on it's own using the sponge which gives a dense coverage. I tried using the sponge to apply the powder over BB cream and found that the thick coverage was prone to creasing around the end of the day.
Below I used a powder brush to apply the powder lightly over my favorite BB cream (Etude House bright fit). The lovely diffused glow is still evident and the thinner coverage means that there is no signs of creasing at the end of the day. In fact, these photos were taken 7 hours after application after a day at Uni! My skin looks so smooth, almost as if it's been Photoshopped!
I have to say that this is my favorite product from this month's beauty box and it is the only powder I'm using right now. The formula is perfect for my dry skin and makes me look so glowy and radiant with the extra benefit of making my BB cream last longer. This product is likely to crease if you have oily or combo skin, but for dry skin it's one of the best powders I have ever used.
