ISOI Bulgarian Rose Blemish Care Serum Review

Friday, 11 April 2014

The ISOI (I'm SO intelligent) 1st class Bulgarian rose blemish care serum is the most recent product I have adopted into my skincare routine. The serum contains rose oil to promote moisture, clarity and whitening properties in the skin. It also contains Asiatic pennywort extract which enhances recovery from acne and treats and calms active blemishes. The main function of this serum is to prevent and treat blemished skin.

The bottle is a lovely shade of purple and although it is quite simple in design, it feels and looks expensive. The box doesn't really match the feminine feel of the bottle- I would have expected a prettier, floral design especially as this is a rose product! But hey, no matter; this product costs around $40-60 on some sites and I am glad that the the money went into the product, not the packaging!

The pump top is secure and easy to control. I find that one full pump is needed to cover my whole face. I have used this product for 2 weeks directly after washing my face, however I generally don't get pimples so I needed another test subject to test this products' claims (I like to be really thorough!).

My sister currently has moderate to severe active acne, so she was the perfect candidate for this product. She has used it for 3-4 weeks every morning and night.

1 pump.
Immediately after spreading.
3 minutes later.
This serum smells delicious, exactly like turkish delight, and is thankfully quite mild. It has a watery texture and spreads on the skin easily and my skin drinks it up within mere minutes which I love! I have dry skin so I was worried that this sort of watery, quick dry serum would not provide much moisture but it exceeded my expectations and provided more hydration than expected. I follow up with the dregs of my Nature Republic aqua cream and my skin feels adequately moisturised. In terms of claims, all I can say is that this product does not make me break out and that my skin feels and looks calmer after application. I really enjoy using this product though and it will remain in my skincare routine.

As for my sister, unfortunately the product did nothing to prevent new pimples or reduce the ones she already had. After a month of use she reported no change which is sad- however her acne is caused by hormone imbalance so I suppose we cannot expect an external serum to work wonders.

Overall, I like this product a lot- the smell, the experience and the soothing effects it has on my dry, sensitive skin. Look out for this one, because you just might love it too!
