Sorabee Balancing Aqua Cream Review
Tuesday, 1 April 2014
Hi everyone! Sorry about the short hiatus, I'm actually in exam period right now- I just had my first (out of 8) exam which happened to be a clinic entrance exam. That's right, if all goes dandy I'll be going into clinic this year and seeing real patients *gasp*! I did well, but made some stupid mistakes as you do in on-the-spot practical oral examinations.
Today I have another 'water drop' cream review, my made up category for creams that break down into water droplets upon rubbing. The last cream I tried was of the same category, see the M-chloi water drop review here, and did not work well for my skin at all. I found this product to be better, but was left wanting more.
The Sorabee Balancing Cream is part of the Balancing series consisting of 8 products. It is targeted at all skin types, especially those with dry skin (me!) and has anti wrinkle and brightening functions.
Compared to the beautiful packaging of most Korean skincare products, just see my review on the Mizon Starfish cream, this one hits below the mark. I find it to be quite cheap looking, although I do appreciate the tube dispenser as tubs can be rather messy.
The cream is solid when you first squeeze it out and looks surprisingly matte, similar to a primer. When it is rubbed into the skin it breaks down into water droplets which are far more abundant than the M-chloi product. On the face it is absorbed within a few minutes, but leaves my skin feeling tight. It's strange that both these products claim to be for dry skin, but have actually provided little hydration- nowhere near enough for my dry skin.
In terms of irritation, this product didn't make my skin red or blotchy, however the smell is similar to the alcohol/perfume smell I noted in the M-chloi cream. The ingredients were listed in English on this product and alcohol was number 6 on the list which explains the weightlessness and fast drying effect- needless to say, I'm not a fan of this -__- (Find out more about alcohol in skin care in this article). That being said, I have passed this product onto my boyfriend who actually quite likes it!
I would recommend this product to those who have oily or combination skin that are not sensitive to ingredients such as alcohol. The moisture level in this cream is light. I won't continue use with this product simply because there are better products out there that offer more hydration plus other benefits! Have you tried this sort of 'water drop' cream before and what did you think?
