Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm Review

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

I'm sure everyone's familiar with Burt's Bees lip products right? I've used their translucent balms before, but not the tinted version which I was very excited to try out after seeing it get 3.9/5 on Makeupalley, plus the Muse loves them! Thank you Burt's Bees for sending me this product to review!

For just a hint of colour and a whole lot of conditioning. The Botanical Waxes in these softly tinted 100% natural balms will take your lips to lovely in one pretty swipe.
• Adds a hint of natural colour
• Nourishes with Shea Butter and Botanical Waxes
• Available in 9 sheer, wearable every day shades

I received the color Hibiscus.

The tube comes inside a rather chunky cardboard tube which looks really beautiful, but is a waste of packaging unless you actually want to keep your balm inside it. The pink section slides out of the brown and out pops the lip balm!

This is a standard lip balm tube with a smooth twist top. It's dark brown which isn't super cute but hey, I'm not really a 'sucker for packaging'. As long as the product works, I'm happy!

Hibiscus looks like an intimidating orange-brown, but don't worry, it sheers out on application.

The tube inside the tube placed next to the tube.

The balm has a lovely buttery, melty texture that glides across the lips smoothly and does not tug at all. It leaves an adequate amount on my lips and coverage is not too thin or thick. I do have to swipe it over my lips at least 3 times to get the best color payoff though. My lips feel smooth, hydrated and happy even in this Winter where they would usually shrivel up along with my dry skin. It also does not make my skin peel off and ball into the corners of my mouth like some other balms do.

The color is sheer, but definitely visible and looks so natural on my lips! I found this balm stayed longer than most other I've tried and you should be good for at least 3 hours without reapplication.

Excuse my funky hairstyle, my hair was dirty from karate training and there wasn't much I could do with it. Coupled with the rest of my makeup, the balm almost looks like a nude lipstick. It really is very pretty and I would consider getting more of these because they are so no-fuss and can pull your look together in seconds!

Highly recommend these! But at AUD $15 at Priceline, I would wait for a good sale. If you're lucky and live in the states, I would say go try out one of these babies!

Then again, I'm definitely more of a gloss/tinted balm low maintenance sorta girl- lipstick is reserved for special occasions where I will have time to touch up! Are you a lip gloss or lip stick fan?
