Innisfree Mineral Makeup Base Review
Thursday, 22 May 2014
Hi all! This is the last of the product reviews I received from Honestskin. I tend to review products I like first and leave the ones I don't like till last, sorry about this! I just can't wait to write positive reviews about products I really like!
The Innisfree Mineral Makeup Base presents you with a clear and radiant skin tone as well as a smooth texture. It has a 4 in 1 function as a skin tone correction, primer, moisture and SPF 30 PA++ protection. You are to apply this after your skincare routine in a patting motion before using BB cream. This is not a silicon (thank God!) base, but a creamy, toning primer.
The box has the sort of natural woody appearance which I especially like in skin products. Makes me feel like the product is good for my skin ya know! (lul, marketing, marketing)
The product itself comes in a lilac tube (there's also green and peach versions) that feels and looks like a DIY hair color tube that you squeeze into the developer. Just sayin' it like it is.
The product comes out the exact same shade of lilac as the tube and has an amazing lavender scent- my absolute favorite! It's very thick, yet blends quite easily. That's where the good stuff ends. As you can see in the blended out shot below, it leaves an obvious, thick white cast on the skin and settles into the lines on my hand.
I tried this on my face for a few days before giving up on it. I am well aware of my dry skin and use plenty of products to make sure it's adequately moisturized before makeup application. Take a look at the After shot and see how the product clings to the previously invisible dry areas on my cheeks. After application, my skin looks pasty, ghostly white and dry. Granted it did cover up redness!
I tried applying BB cream over the top of the primer and this is the dry and cakey result :(. This photo reminded me of the effect that the Etude House Magic Any Cushion had on my skin! That confusing greasy, yet flaky appearance. With this base on, my skin starts to look more greasy and cakey throughout the day to the point where I can't wait to go home and cleanse my face.
I'm sorry if I came off too harsh in this review, but this product really didn't work for me and my skin looks a million times better without it. I would not recommend this product, especially if you have dry or blemished skin as the product will stick to any uneven surface. On the other hand, I'm super glad I came across a lavender scented product! I hope to find some more in the future ^^.
