Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face and Eyes Review

Wednesday, 14 May 2014

A big thank you to Physicians Formula for sending me two of their newest products- I'm reviewing my favorite of the 2 today. This nifty all-in-1 product contains 12 pretty shimmer strips to be used on the face and eyes.

Here's what Physicians Formula says:

Create the perfect nude glow! Going nude has never been more glam or beautiful!
Introducing NEW Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette for Face & Eyes. This multi-functional face-and-eye palette features 12 perfectly coordinated nude hues that can be used individually as eyeshadow and liners or blended together as a bronzer, blush or highlighter. Each palette features pure pigment, flawless blending and a micro-pearlescent formula in an assortment of ultra-chic nude shades for the perfect Nude look.

I received the palette in shade Natural Nude.

Compared to other Western drugstore brands, Physicians Formula definitely puts more effort into their packaging. Have you seen their Happy Booster blushes?! I was seriously impressed with the unique packaging they put together for this nude palette- it's super cute but the lace print gives it a hint of sexy ;).

Here's a close up of the back. The idea is to use each row of shades as eyeshadow, eyeliner, bronzer, blush and highlighter.

There are two sections, the top one contains the shimmer sticks and the second contains a mirror, a sponge tip applicator and a flat cheek brush. There are adorable little bows imprinted on every second brick which sadly disappear *sniff* with each swipe of product. This may not be the safest product to drop or carry in your purse with because the sections close via magnetized strips which are not particularly strong.

In the back section there is a guide in case you need some ideas on how and where to use the product. The sponge tip applicator is useful for lining my lower lash line, but the cheek brush is scratchy and loosely packed. The hairs have already started coming out of mine! Definitely use your own brushes if you have them. My preference would be to only have the product and get rid of the brushes which would save space, but that's just me. I understand not everyone has their own brushes.

Here are all the shades swatched from L-R. The shadows are very soft, more so than Urban Decay's shadows, and have amazing pigmentation- you are looking at 1 swipe of my finger through each powder! As the shadows are so soft they do kick up a bit of powder dust when you use them, but no biggie. All of the powders are warm toned and contain a wonderful selection of beautifully shimmery shades. They are very finely milled and I only find 2 of the highlight shades chalky to use on their own.

I tested out the palette as an eyeshadow, bottom lash liner, highlighter, blush and bronzer and here is proof how how well they work as each!

I used three colors for this eye look and unfortunately my camera washed out the shades. They all blended beautifully together and my eyes look like sparkly, shimmery prettiness! When used on top of my Eles concealer, the shadows stayed all day.

I applied the top 2 rows as a highlight, the middle two rows as blush and the last two rows as bronzer with my MAC blush brush. As you can see the effect is an amazing high beam bronze effect, which I personally love because it reminds me of Summer holidays! Keep in mind the product is very shimmery, and not everyone will love this on their cheeks- especially those with oily skin.

I tend to touch my cheeks more than my eyes and found that the product rubbed off relatively easily when touched. I have dry skin, so the product will likely rub off to a greater extent if you have oily skin. I'm also wearing the highlight down the bridge of my nose.

You all know I only post a photo of me holding the product if I love it right? Aside from the low quality brush, I think this is a fantastic product! As I've shown, it can be used on the eyes and cheeks to create a nude bronzed glow. If I were going on a tropical holiday (I wish), I would definitely pack this multi use product as it takes the guesswork out of choosing a matching eye and cheek look, plus the product is so easy to blend! Furthermore, the packaging is super cute and makes me happy when I see it. I definitely recommend this product if you are a fan of shimmer.

You can pick this up at Priceline for $24.95! I'd say it's worth it.

I hope you enjoyed this review!
