Skinfood Aloe Triple Sun SPF50+ Review

Monday, 12 May 2014

I received this sunscreen to review from Honestskin, as always thank you so much for sending me such lovely items! Skinfood always intrigues me with its nutritious food concepts- this facial sunscreen contains 'aloe barbadensis leaf' extract, also known as simple aloe vera. As we all know aloe vera has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. One of my favorite treatment oils is actually an aloe product- my Verikos aloe calming oil

Living in Australia and having a skin cancer surgeon as a mother, I know the importance of sunscreen, yet am ashamed to admit I am not very consistent in applying it. I sometimes avoid putting sunscreen on my face because I'm afraid of causing breakouts so I always rely on using a BB cream with a high SPF. I know this is not enough!

The sunscreen comes in a flat squeezey tube in a mint green color (love!). It has a cartoony illustration of an aloe vera plant which is quite cute. It has a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 50+ and a PA+++. For those of you who don't know, the SPF number represents the length of time you can stay out in the sun without burning multiplied by the SPF. So if you would normally start to burn in 10 minutes, a UV sunscreen of SPF 50, would allow you to stay out in the sun 50 times longer. That means you could theoretically have 500 minutes of sun protection! Reapplication is still very important though!

PA stands for protection grade of UVA and comes in 3 grades. This sunscreen contains PA +++ which is the strongest grade of protection available!

Alongside the high protection, the sunscreen has a brightening and anti wrinkle effect. It also states it protects against both UVB and UVA rays.

The tube has a tapered tip which allows precise control of how much to dispense. The sunscreen feels very light, not thick at all, and is super easy to blend out over the skin. The amount you see below is enough to cover my whole face! There is a definite floral scent mixed in with the sunscreen smell and it's overall quite pleasant.

What I like about this sunscreen is that it absorbs into my skin within a minute and does not leave a white cast. My face does not feel greasy afterwards and instead feels like I have just put on moisturizer. My skin has not broken out since using this.

You may think all sunscreens are the same, but trust me, they aren't! I have tried ones that made me break out, made my skin an oily mess or turned it completely white. This one does not do any of these and offers a really high SPF and PA factor. And for $8.25, I'd say this is a very decent product if you are in the market for a sunscreen- especially those of you going into Summer in the Northern Hemisphere! Get it here!
