My Beauty Diary Egg White Gommage Peeling Mask Review

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Exfoliating is one of the most important steps in my skincare routine and I personally do it 2-3 times a week with a gentle scrub. I was using my Etude House Blooming scrub before I met the My Beauty Diary Egg White Gommage Peeling Mask kindly sent to my by Bntnews!

Firstly, the name of the scrub is misleading- it is not to be used as a mask! It's actually a scrub and I found this out after Googling it because there are no English instructions on the packaging. This product was featured on a Get it Beauty Episode and was one of G.NA's top skincare picks! See the Bnt news article here.

The product is supposed to 'peel' off dead skin cells, promoting new cell turnover whilst keeping the skin moisturized.

This product came shrink wrapped in plastic which I don't mind at all as there is less packaging to recycle! The scrub is housed in a simple pastel pink squeeze tube. I find the fonts and illustrations really girly and cute and it reminds me of Easter Eggs! I personally love sweet and girly packaging- just looking at it makes me feel youthful.

The scrub itself is not comparable to any scrub I have used before. It is thick and white when you first squeeze it out onto your hand. As you start to massage the product on to your wet skin, that's when the magic happens- it turns light and airy! It is hard to get the size and number of particles correct in an exfoliating product, I find the particles tend to be either too harsh or too gentle and sometimes there are too little particles.

This scrub is perfect. The solid particles are extremely plentiful which ensures every part of your face is exposed to the 'beads' and are of moderate exfoliating harshness. The beads are not round- they feel similar to the shape of eraser rubbings, but a lot smaller.

I was wondering whether the product would smell like egg, thankfully it doesn't! It has a light, floral scent that does not irritate my sensitive nose.

Below are the before and after pictures of my skin after I used this scrub first thing in the morning. You can see my pores are evident and my skin looks a little greasy. There is also a tiny whitehead next to my nose (sorry to point it out!).

I find the scrub removes the oil from my face adequately and leaves it feeling super smooth and hydrated! My dry skin does not become drier after this product and instead looks smooth and bright! The particles were strong enough to get rid of that pimple and my skin looks even and not red like after some other scrubs.

This product is a joy to use with the lovely scent and thorough exfoliation and hydration it gives my skin. Afterwards my skin feels so clean and refreshed! I would recommend to use this every 2-3 days, or every day after cleansing if you wear heavy base makeup. At the moment, this is my favorite product from this months Bntnews beauty box! I would definitely consider repurchasing this product and looking at the other skincare products in the line.

Have you tried this scrub? Honestly, it's one of the best I've tried! You can find it on Ebay for $27 and yes I do think it's worth the price as it will last you many months.
