MyPu Hyalu Water Volume Snail Gel Cream Review

Sunday, 29 June 2014

My last experience with a snail product was terrible (Nature Republic Snail Solution set), so I was happy to try another snail product from this month's Bntnews box. I was hoping it would be an improvement and I'm glad to say it definitely was!

MyPu actually stands for My Pure Skin, and in my opinion I think the latter option gives a better overall brand image than "MyPu" (for obvious reasons) especially in the Western market. The brand concentrates on using all natural ingredients in its products which I have some doubts about. I'm no expert on skincare ingredients but looking at the ingredients list I see 'bis-peg-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane', 'methylparaben' and many more. These definitely do not sound 'natural' to me, but please correct me if I'm mistaken. Note that the very first ingredient on the list is actually snail secretion filtrate which does back up their claim of the cream containing 70% snail slime.

One of MyPu's flagship products is the Snail Gel Cream which is concentrated at preventing wrinkles and whitening.

I have to say I quite like the pastel pink and white packaging. It looks trustworthy and cute at the same time.

The gel comes in a squeezy tube which is a nice change from all the pot creams I usually use. It's more hygienic and easy to use in my opinion.

The product is definitely more towards a gel than a cream. It has a thick, yet light consistency and despite it being 70% snail slime, it does not feel slimy or greasy as you rub it in. It feels watery and thin and actually locks in more moisture to my dry skin than I expected! In Winter time I do need to top up the moisture with 1-2 more creams, so I would describe the moisture level as being moderate. I think this product would be great to use in Summer for any skin type because it is definitely a 'light and cooling' type of gel.

The gel smells light and fresh, and I have no issues with it!

As you can see the gel spreads to form a decently thick layer over the skin. It absorbs relatively fast and does not leave a dewy sheen on my dry skin. I don't see a difference in terms of wrinkle improvement because I have none, but I do have to say my skin has lightened, which I attribute to the Winter weather, but who knows, perhaps this product helped it along?

I have been using this product morning and night and do like it quite a lot as it's gentle, easy to use and feels calming to my skin. I will continue using this one until it runs out! You can purchase the MyPu Snail Gel cream on eBay for $14 US.
