isoi Pore Tightening Tonic Essence Review
Wednesday, 3 September 2014
I have previously tried the isoi Bulgarian Rose Blemish serum, thanks to Bntnews, and ended up loving the calming effect it had on my skin so much so that I finished the bottle within a month! So I was fairly pleased when I saw the isoi Pore Tightening Tonic Essence in this month's Bnt box.
The Pore Tightening Tonic Essence is the second step in isoi's Pore Tightening series.
I like that isoi places an emphasis on using naturally derived ingredients in their products. This toner essence contains lemon, grape and apple fruit acid to soften old skin cells. The star ingredients are Bulgarian rose oil and witch hazel which penetrate deep inside the skin to provide moisture. The toner claims to increase skin's resilience, tighten 'slack' skin, remove dirt and control sebum and of course, make your pores 'skinny' as stated on the box. Essentially, this is a product aimed at oily and sensitive skin types.
Unfortunately I don't have particularly large pores plus this product is not aimed towards my dry skin type, but I was still happy to give this a go.
The box does not make much of a statement, but I think the bottle is very classy and pretty with its fetching green-tinged frosted glass.
It is recommended that you apply the toner with a cotton pad, but you all know that I dislike using cotton pads so I simply slap the bottle against my palm and tap/rub the essence onto my face gently. If you are using the product to remove the last remnants of your make up, then a cotton pad will certainly be more effective.
The toner is very lightweight with a soft, refreshing scent. It has the consistency of water mixed with a little soap or oil that allows the essence to glide over my face easily. It absorbs into my skin very quickly and my face is left feeling slightly tacky, which I personally don't mind. My face does feel tight afterwards, but that is normal for my dry skin. Surprisingly, I don't find this toner stripping, yet it is not hydrating either so obviously I do need to top up the moisture level with a few more products. My skin feels like it absorbs the extra creams more readily after I apply this essence.
There was no change in my pore size whilst using this toner, then again I don't have the biggest pore problem. Honestly, I doubt that any product can truly reduce the size of your pores once they are stretched- the best you can do is concentrate on sebum control and avoid getting blackheads!
Overall I find that I liked this product, even though it wasn't aimed at my skin type or concern. I like the natural ingredients isoi uses in its products and the way my skin feels after application. I feel like this essence would be a hit for oily skin as it seems to work well to control oil (according to my fellow Bnt girls) without stripping the skin. It also feels very gentle and smells good. Thumbs up from me!
