Leaders Insolution Ac-Free Spot Patch Review
Tuesday, 2 September 2014
Apologies for the bluntness, but I have always thought acne patch products to be gimmicky. I remember during the good old high school days at ACS International in Singapore, there used to be a girl who would wear acne patches to school and the patches were thick and highly visible, almost like dollops of dried hot glue gun! I was glad to see that these acne patches by Leaders Insolution are super thin and almost invisible.
You are to apply the patches to your face after cleansing. The patches contain salicylic acid and tea tree oil to treat and diminish the blemish by the morning. Joanne actually had amazing results with this product and you can see her review here. Unfortunately my sister and I found this product to have 0 effect on our blemishes.
There are 5 foil packets, each containing 1 x strip of 10, so 50 patches in all. There are 4 small patches and 6 large patches on each strip. As you can see the small patches are quite generous and around the size of my thumbnail.
I tried 4 patches overall because I hardly ever get pimples anymore, sometimes on random red spots (not really acne) and also on tiny whiteheads. My sister, who has moderate acne with large protruding pustules, also tried multiple patches.
The good thing about these patches is that they are almost invisible on the skin, unless they catch the light. You can totally get away with these whilst pottering around at home, but I would never consider wearing them out of the house. They also stick to skin really well and none of us had problems with the patches falling off overnight.
There are no before or after pictures of this product because there was absolutely no difference. On whiteheads I thought the patch would at least draw out the pus overnight, but alas, I still had to pop the pimple after the patch was removed, which I could have done the night before anyway! I had one slightly raised pimple with no whitehead above my eyebrow, which according to my natural history would usually dissipate in 2 days or so. I swear wearing a patch on it 2 nights in a row actually prolonged the life of the pimple! It became 'harder' and redder, almost as if the patch pushed the infection deeper.
My sister also reported no difference on her moderate acne.
I think the effectiveness of this product really depends on your skin and acne type. It didn't work for us, but it certainly works for others as Joanne demonstrated.
What have your experiences been with acne patch products?
