Crop Gentle Cleansing Gel Review

Thursday, 30 October 2014

A while ago I was sent the whole line of Crop natural skincare, you can see my overview of the brand here. Today I will be reviewing my favorite product of the line in depth. I have used about 1/3 of the gel so far and my favorite time to use it is in the morning, however I do sometimes use it as a second cleanser at night.

"The CROP Gentle Cleansing Gel is a sulphate free and paraben free formulation that removes make-up and impurities, revealing deeply cleansed and purified skin. Infused with a gentle essential oil blend and enriched with the CROP Vital 8 ingredients to promote healthy skin; Jojoba, Vitamin E, Cocoa Butter, Rose Hip Oil, Aloe Vera, Rice Protein, Wheat Protein and Lavender Oil."- CROP website

It retails at a very affordable $12 at Coles supermarkets.

I love the packaging of all CROP products because they have that dark, chic unisex look that stands out amongst all my other facial care products which are predominantly white. The dark brown bottle gives the impression that the contents are very potent (or is that just me?). Plus the pump top is handy-dandy!

The cleanser is a gel type which is unusual in today's market, or maybe it's because I always gravitate towards foaming products! It has a slightly runny consistency that lathers only a tiny bit when mixed with water. When used with a facial cleansing sponge it lathers much more.

I mentioned the scent before, but I have to say it again: It. Smells. So. Good. I can really smell all the essential oils as I massage it into my face, making me feel calmer. It's a natural, botanical scent that can only be created using essential oils. Did you know lavender is my favourite scent? And surprise, surprise, this product contains lavender oil! This really is hands down the best smelling cleanser I have ever met, and is the perfect start to my mornings.

In terms of removing makeup, it actually does a fair job at removing everything except waterproof mascara, which I was quite pleased with. However I would not trust it to remove heavy foundation (I wear light BB cream). Below is an example of how well it removes a swatch of my HG K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner just with some water and rubbing with my fingers.

This product sits slightly more towards the hydrating end of the scale due to its gel consistency and non-foaming attributes. My skin does feel tight when it dries, but then again, I haven't met a cleanser that cleanses well and doesn't dry out my skin! This one does not irritate my skin at all.

Overall, I adore this cleanser and think it looks, smells and performs like a high end product.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

Aussie girls and guys- have you seen the CROP range in Coles?
