Sun Sense Bronze Shield Review- Instant Summer Tan with SPF!
Sunday, 19 October 2014
Here's the first of my in-depth reviews from the amazing hamper of goodies I received from Ego Skincare a few weeks ago. Admittedly, I wasn't too excited about this particular product because I'm very tanned already, especially for an Asian girl, and I do think I look better with fairer skin. However, I tried it for the sake of this review and I ended up really liking this product! In Australia where most people prefer to be tanned, I think this is a fantastic multi tasking product suited to the Australian Summer.
An instant natural tan with SPF 30+ protection. SunSense Bronze Shield is a light milk sunscreen, easily applied and quickly absorbed, with no greasy residue. The non-permanent tint provides instant natural colour for a summer glow. Great for a fun day out.
Suitable for all skin types and use on both face and body.
Photographed alongside some of my other Summer favourites!
The bottle cap screws off and the product is dispensed through a small hole. You hardly need to squeeze the bottle because the product is milky and runny, much like a lotion instead of a sunscreen. The lotion is a milky chocolate colour which is alarming at first because it looks very dark. However it spreads over the skin easily and thinly, and the colour is distributed evenly. I have used this for a couple of weeks straight and it is safe to say there is no streaking on application.
The lotion absorbs into my skin incredibly fast, plus is very moisturising for my dry legs, without coating them in a greasy residue! You don't have to apply moisturiser beforehand, it is that hydrating. I love that it is absorbed quickly because that means there is no transfer of pigment to clothes or sheets during the day.
You can see how 1 thin coat of the Bronze Shield evens out my yellow, patchy skin tone and adds a healthy bronze glow. Note that the colour is definitely brown, not a dreadful orange! I also notice that the added colour makes my legs look slimmer and more toned.
I do have a darker skin tone than most Caucasians, so I would be interested to see whether it looks as natural on someone with a paler complexion.
2 coats enhances the bronze look even more and proves that the colour is buildable- you can keep on building layers if you want a deeper colour!
The pigment washes off easily with water, so I wouldn't recommend wearing it to the beach unless you reapply it often. Overall, I think this is a fantastic, affordable product that triples as a moisturiser, self-tanner and sun protection all in one! If you want to look like a bronzed Goddess this Summer, but don't want the hassle and mess of a patchy spray tan, I would absolutely recommend this product! The fact that is has added SPF in it makes it even better!
You can purchase the Sun Sense Bronze Shield at most Australian Pharmacies for $15.
