Hongik Skin Real OH Bubble the Hayan GT-Cleanser Review

Wednesday, 19 November 2014

Spoiler alert: this cleanser is one of my favourite products from this month's Bntnews box! I have tried everything in the box and I like ALL of them, which is rare for me. When I opened the box, this cleanser jumped out at me because of the cute, bright blue-green packaging and cartoonish fonts!

The brand, which is written in Korean, is Hongik skin and there are currently no reviews on any of their products online. I was able to use Google translate for the product claims:

Maintains moist skin
Pore tightening
Deep cleansing
Removes old waste material from the skin's surface
Calms and softens skin
Brightening function

The ingredients list is quite short (always a good sign) and it contains many plant extracts!

"Reveals skin's youthful angelic glow"

Yes I would like my skin to have an angelic glow!

I adore the packaging so much! The frosted glass appearance makes it look expensive and I love how fat the tube and pump are. It is unexpectedly lighter than it looks, and it has already survived a drop in the shower due to the resilient material. I also like that it contains a generous amount of cleanser!

The only down side is that it is on the bigger side for a cleanser, so unfortunately I won't be taking it on my travels to India and Korea.

Sneak peak of those bubbles!

The cleanser looks like liquid hand soap when you first pump it out. If used with water, the amount you see on my hand is enough!

This is the result after I mix the cleanser with water. Thick, airy, fluffy bubbles! This cleanser reminds me of the BRTC bubble oxygen mask I reviewed for a previous Btnews box, but I think the bubbles are thicker and more luxurious! I do have to mention the scent though. It is not an unpleasant scent, but I find it a bit heady. It definitely smells a bit like perfume and there is fragrance in the ingredients list which is a shame. I would prefer it if it had a fresher or more neutral scent! However, I love the cleanser so I can overlook the smell.

I like to use the cleanser as 1. a face wash and 2. a face mask.

1. To use it as a cleanser, I wet my face and then massage the cleanser onto my skin for 30 seconds. Ample time to enjoy the sensation of thick bubbles moving over your skin!

2. Although it is not advertised as a mask, I like to use it as one when I'm relaxing in the bath. After washing and drying my face, I simply smear 3-4 pumps of the cleanser over my face. After a few seconds it starts to foam up and the bubbles start popping actively all over! It may feel ticklish to some, but I really enjoy the sensation. I leave it for 5-10 minutes before washing it off.

Can you see my skin's angelic glow? ^^
When washing it off I noticed there is no squeaky skin feeling that I experience so often with other cleansers. My skin feels extremely hydrated afterwards, powder soft and smooth! I was surprised because the words foaming and moisturising don't usually go together.

Overall, I love everything about this cleanser- the cute packaging, the experience and the results. The only negative is the smell and that is a mild concern, plus remember I have a sensitive nose.

You can buy this cleanser from the Hongik Skin website for $32. That is admittedly expensive for a cleanser, but if want a new foamy experience and have some spare cash to treat yourself, you won't be disappointed!

*I was gifted this product for review, all my opinions are 100% honest.
