Wednesday, 14 January 2015
Today I'm going to introduce to you a brand new product to the Korean skincare market. It's called EPONA Almighty Mayu Cream! The brand only launched last November 2014 and has already received online news coverage since hitting the market.
If you can read Hangul, have a look at their website!
The brand is named after Epona, the Roman Goddess of horses. She was a protector of horses, donkeys and mules as well as being a Goddess of fertility. The owners of EPONA are dedicated to pursuing the best quality horse oil in the world!
EPONA cream contains 10% Mayu, a well-known as a premium oil worldwide, recognized as a “Protective oil for the skin” by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan. EPONA is focused on health and beauty, following the wisdom of the past to the present.
The great thing about this cream is that it is super moisturising but very light! It does not feel heavy on the skin at all, unlike other oil based creams in my collection.
8 Botanical Extracts
Miraculous synergy with Fresh Mayu and pure plant extracts add natural energy on your skin.
Indeed, the cream has a really fresh, fruity, botanical scent!
8 Harmful Ingredients Free and Dermatologist-tested
EPONA is a suitable product for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It has been dermatologically tested for safety. EPONA avoids harmful ingredients and aims for safety.
It is free from Talc, Paraben, Mineral oil, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Benzophenone, Triclosan, Tar colour.
It is great to hear that so many companies are leaving harmful ingredients out of their products. After all, your skin absorbs 60% of what you put on it. That's pretty scary, and I know I should be more diligent about researching what I put on my skin.
On the other hand, have a look at the 8 botanical ingredients found in this cream.
Co-created with experts at the University of Jeju.
EPONA cream has a whopping 8 skin benefits! Let's see...
I can definitely say that my skin feels super hydrated, bouncy and elastic when I use this cream! I also agree with point 05- my skin does retain the moisture provided, yet I feel that my oil production is more controlled during the day. As my skin is now combination type (thanks hormones and Summer), I love that it is relatively non-greasy for such an intensely moisturising product. From my experience, this is quite hard to find in a cream. Most tend to be either too lightweight and leave my skin feeling tight, or too heavy which has now started to give me blackheads due to my oily forehead!
The cream is snow white and has a really soft texture that reminds me of melted frozen yogurt! It spreads over skin really easily and all you need is a tiny dab on both cheeks, chin and forehead.
A mere minute after rubbing it in, my skin looks like this- plump and elastic with a slight sheen. The cream absorbs extremely well because the oil gives it a similar structure to human skin.
I can honestly say that I am happy with this cream and think it is a quality product that can cater to all skin types. These days I can get quite oily thanks to the Summer heat and a little of this cream is all I need, day and night to hydrate my skin without making me into a grease ball.
Now, where to buy EPONA cream?
