Kiss me Heroine Long & Curl Mascara Review

Wednesday, 17 June 2015

Hi all! I have been using the Kiss Me Heroine Long & Curl mascara since I came back from Japan over a month ago. This mascara is extremely popular and there are dozens of reviews of it online, but I wanted to give my 2 cents on it anyway. There is a newer version (which you can buy on Ebay) which comes in a black tube, but I didn't know that back then so I ended up choosing the older hot pink version.

This mascara claims to be super waterproof, lengthening and 'locks' in your curl all day. The most important feature of a mascara for me is that it does not unfurl my perfectly crimped eyelashes!

The packaging is super girly, I love it!

The lid is embellished with roses and stars. Bling bling!

The brush is curved and the bristles are arranged in a spiral pattern. To create volume, you use the concave (bottom) side first and then finish with the convex (top) side. The formula is thick and inky and forms into little hair-like fibers at the tips of your lashes.

Sad bare lashes curled with my Shiseido eyelash curler.

 1 coat of mascara.

2 coats of mascara.

As you can see, my eyelashes have grown by around 3-4mm in length and the curl is locked into place!  It does exactly what it says it does- lengthen, curl and remains completely waterproof and smudge proof all day long. My lashes are slightly clumped together, but that tends to happen with all fiber mascaras so I'm not complaining especially as my natural lashes are quite sparse. If you don't like this look, go for a volumising mascara instead.

My only gripe is the most common one I've found on the internet- this mascara is freaking difficult to remove! Even jojoba oil, which is the most effective make up remover I have tried, has issues removing this. After double cleansing, I still end up with panda eyes afterwards. At this point I just give up and go to sleep and deal with the residual stains in the days to come.

Overall, this is an extremely effective mascara, perfect for lengthening and curling stubborn Asian eyelashes. Be prepared to work hard on removal though! For this reason, I don't find myself reaching for this one every day, especially as I wear falsies. I am way too busy to deal with the panda eyes for days afterwards.

Have you tried this mascara? Are these results convincing enough for you to give it a try?

You can purchase this mascara from this store on Ebay which is selling the new version for $13.50 USD.

*I purchased this product with my own money.
