Klenspop EOS Jewel Grey Circle lens review

Thursday, 31 December 2015

2015 was a difficult year because it was so darn busy! I had so much trouble prioritising my interests and study but guess what? I am officially 'Dr Kim'! Please don't call me Doctor though, it sounds weird. I have had a week of doing absolutely nothing and wasn't able to sleep a wink because well... I guess I'm the sort of person who always has to be doing something, whether it be blogging, cosplaying or working. I'm back to my schedule now and although I have many interests, this blog is going to remain a beauty blog. Instagram and Facebook are going to be my avenues to pursue my other interests- mainly cosplay, health, fashion and my new quest to get rock hard abs.

I did want to start a Youtube channel, but I will be starting a new job this month and everything will be hectic for a while, so I don't think it's a good time to add another interest to the pile. Hopefully I can find the time later on this year!

I wanted to review a blue/grey lens from Klenspop for my Babydoll from Sucker Punch cosplay and found the EOS Jewel Grey lenses! You all know that silicone hydrogel lenses are my preferred type of lens because of the comfort level, however there is limited range for colours at the moment, plus I knew I would need a more opaque grey lens to cover up my brown irises.

Apart from good ol' safe brown lenses, grey is my next favourite colour to wear because they make you look so mysterious.

DIA: 14mm
BC: 8.6mm
Expiry: 6 months
Water Content: 38%
Origin: Korea

Note that the expiry date is 6 months from opening, not 1 year like most circle lenses.

I chose these lenses because they have a blueish purple tint to them which is so pretty! The pattern looks like epic mist and is opaque enough to cover up my brown eyes. There is a thin limbal ring around the lens which really makes my eyes pop- I like that it is not harsh black, but a dark purple which is more natural looking. These are not supposed to be natural lenses, but they don't look scary or bug-like in my small eyes!

From farther away the lenses don't stand out that much and look much darker paired with eye makeup and dark hair. Lenses always slip down in my right eye which causes occasional blurred vision, but that is to be expected with a bung eye and an opaque lens. It doesn't bother me that much.

Ah clubbing, the true test of circle lens comfort! I wore these lenses to Neko Nation Perth (a clubbing event for nerds) with my Babydoll from Sucker Punch cosplay and was terrified they would start hurting during the night, so I brought along my glasses, lens solution and lens case just in case. But I shouldn't have worried because they didn't bother me at all, despite being a regular circle lens which I normally have issues with.

However, when I wear these in the day time I do feel them in my eyes more. Probably because there are less distractions! I wouldn't recommend wearing these lenses for over 6 hours.

Under artificial lighting and in dark areas, the lenses turn much darker in photos.

Overall, these lenses are pretty and are opaque enough to keep some of their colour over dark eyes. The enlargement effect is average and I would say the comfort level is average-good for a regular circle lens. For the cosplay, I feel like I should have chosen a brighter, bluer lens as the wig is so blonde!

You can buy the EOS Jewel Grey lenses from Klenspop for a SUPER cheap $12.50 right now! That is a fantastic deal considering you get a free lens case and tweezers with each purchase!
