Maple Holistics Argan Conditioner review

Tuesday, 15 December 2015

I realised that I haven't talked about my hair for a very long time on this blog, which is strange because 4 months ago, I embarked on a huge hair care change. I went No Poo! I was 2 months into No Poo when I received the Maple Holistics #1 Bestselling Argan conditioner to review (which I had forgotten about because the shipping took months!) and immediately emailed the company to find out whether the product had any silicone in it. Once I received confirmation that it does not, I went ahead and started using the conditioner as the sole hair care product in my routine.

To this day, this is the only product I use on my hair. I simply rinse and scrub my scalp with water every 4-5 days and apply conditioner on the ends.

"Years of research have been dedicated to formulating a blend of conditioning agents which can maximize smooth hairness, have no potentially harmful additives, and be effective for all hair types. Argan Conditioner contains no aroma with its pure and well-balanced formulation. With the homeopathic solution, taking care of your hair has never been easier."

Other delicious ingredients include: Argan oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, green tea, botanical keratin and pomegranate, hibiscus and sea buckthorn. I was not familiar with the last few ingredients so here is some interesting info from the website for you:

Botanical Keratin: Keratin is a family of fibrous structural proteins, which contribute to the composition of hair. As it is essential to hair’s formation, insufficient quantities of keratin may be a contributing factor to having frizzy and unmanageable hair. This naturally derived ingredient helps to replenish the ideal keratin content for strong, durable hair.

Pomegranate, Hibiscus and Sea Buckthorn: Certified blend assists in repairing damaged hair follicles to revitalize healthy, flowing hair. Pomegranate contains ellagic acid, which prevents the moisture in the hair from drying out. Hibiscus (“the flower of hair care”) helps prevent dryness, dullness, and hair damage. It also prevents problems like dandruff, split ends, and premature graying. Sea buckthorn, on the other hand, contains high levels of Omega 3, 6, 7, and 9, as well as vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K that promote healthy skin and hair.

True to the description, there is no scent. It comes out thick, but has a thin consistency and coats the hair in a light layer. It's quite slippery and I find I only use less than half a palm's worth of product for my long hair. My hair absorbs the conditioner and I find there is hardly anything to rinse out after 3 minutes! My hair feels much smoother than when I don't use any products at all, and it doesn't weigh my hair down. I would describe this conditioner as light-weight and would best suit fine hair.

Previously when I was using shampoo, I had to use the heaviest conditioners I could find to hydrate my coarse, dry hair. Now after going no-poo, my hair has become SO much thicker and stronger all the way down to the ends, so a light-weight conditioner suits my hair perfectly.

This is my hair after it has been left to dry naturally. See how little frizz there is?! The conditioner gets a favourable review from me, but if you have hair that is very dry or damaged, you may require a heavier conditioner such as my previous favourite (Lush's American Cream). Also considering that Maple Holistics is a cruelty-free company that produces organic products, the pricing is fantastic!

You can get the Argan conditioner on Amazon for a super cheap $11.72 USD! That is shocking to me and I would expect to pay over $30 for a hair product of this quality in Australia.

Now I want to know- would you ever consider going no-poo? I really must get onto blogging about it because it is the best thing I have ever done for my hair.
