The Beauty Lover Tag

Wednesday, 13 April 2016

Woohoo! I went to the library so I could use the internet and decided it is finally time to do the Beauty Lover Tag. Thank you to Hao from Haodoyoungo for tagging me, hers was actually the first blog I accessed after my long break from wi-fi.

1. If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?
I've had several makeup artists work on me before and have hated the result every single time. I've literally gone to the bathroom afterwards and fixed up everything to my liking! I know my face the best and always have a clear idea in my head of the creative or every day look I want to achieve, so how could I ever be happy with someone else's vision for me?

But as a joke, I'd like for my friend Micky to do my makeup. He's tall, blonde, Norwegian and as natural as the sun (see Micky in this post). He would have no idea and it would be absolutely hilarious.

2. What's your top makeup tip?
If you have specific dark spots or acne you want to conceal, apply your regular base and concealer. Then take a small, fluffy brush and swirl in a pressed powder one shade lighter than your skin tone. Pat the brush over the blemish from all angles to really set the concealer whilst adding another layer of coverage. Then use a large fluffy brush to set your entire face with pressed powder the same shade as your skin tone! This process has been an absolute life saver for me, allowing me to cover up almost everything for all the photoshoots I've been doing lately!

3. What one makeup item could you not live without?
Definitely concealer! I have problem skin and it's one of my biggest insecurities! Concealer can be used all over the face or directly over spots to triple my confidence. My favourite concealer is the Face Shop Dual Veil which has a stick and liquid all in one.

4. What one skincare item could you not live without?
The most important step in skincare is cleansing and my hands down favourite, 3 times repurchased product is Philosophy's Purity cleanser. It's gentle, removes all my makeup when used together with my Olay cleansing brush and smells beautiful. I can't see myself using another cleanser within the next year.

5. What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?
False eyelashes on my lower lash line! Granted I only attempt this around once a year for costume makeup, but it's so darn difficult! The whole strip of lashes always ends up pasted directly on to my under eyes, instead of poking out a little bit like natural lashes.

6. What's your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?
Cakey base makeup. When I see these girls, I just want to copiously mist their faces with my aloe spray and blend everything out with a stippling brush. And then give them their own aloe spray to keep.

7. What's your favorite makeup era?
I love the 1940's and 1950's pin up makeup! All the women looked so put together, yet sexy. Unfortunately I don't think my Asian features work well with this style of makeup as I end up looking a bit manly whenever I attempt it.

8. What's your guilty pleasure product?
The promise of perfect skin always taps into my skin insecurities and lures me into buying foundations and BB creams. I'm proud to say that I haven't splurged on any really expensive foundations, but have bought and tried many bases in my time. I really should review some of them!

9. What's your underdog product?
Most definitely my Born Pretty brush set which is basically a Real Techniques dupe at a fraction of the price. I use the flat top brushes daily and they have replaced my Sigma brushes. My base makeup takes 30 seconds to apply and always turns out so flawless and even. I also use the same brushes to blend out my concealer.

10. What's your favorite makeup product of 2015?
The original MeMe box X Pony Shine Easy Glam eyeshadow palette. I use every single shade on a weekly basis and have hit pan on 3 of the shades. This one is a definite repurchase and I use it every single day I wear makeup. Because of this palette I feel as though I don't need to buy any more eyeshadows! If I did, I would choose Pony's other palettes as the texture and payoff is so easy to blend.

& now for those I'm going to tag!
