What's been going on?! Oz Comic con!
Sunday, 10 April 2016
Hey guys! The reason I haven't been updating my blog is mostly because we moved house last weekend and have no Wi-Fi until this coming Friday. It's amazing how much I depend on the internet. I have also had some fairly major and somewhat devastating life changes all happen at the same time.
My car broke and I can't afford to get a new one, so I have downgraded to a bicycle. I still haven't quite adjusted to riding it yet and my butt hurts, however I am loving the fact that I am forced to do cardio! #brightside
I lost my job in the cosmetic industry. I won't go into detail, but I was devastated when I was let go because my whole plan for the year was thrown off, and suddenly I was under intense financial pressure. It's faded into slight anger now, and I am now searching for a full time job. I'm slowly reigniting my passion for my profession after observing some great Chiropractors and I'm looking forward to healing people in need (please may the right opportunity come!).
Those two are the main events taking up my time and energy, as well as moving house and working a part time job. On top of that, my personal life is really hectic too with so many new changes and experiences every day! I've felt lost, angry, depressed and anxious as well as joy, relief and at peace within the space of 2 weeks. Right smack bang in the middle of all of this I also had my first kicking, screaming, crying, all-hell-breaking-loose panic attack. I think all my life experiences have come at once!
Really, the last thing I feel like doing is blogging about beauty products. My friends, new and old have really been my saving grace at this time in my life. I was persistent enough to rope two of my best friends into a group Gangsta cosplay at Oz Comic con last weekend!
The series revolves around two "Handymen" who take on jobs for both the mob and the police force that no one else can handle. The two, named Worick Arcangelo and Nicolas Brown, work in the town of Ergastulum, which is full of mafia, hoodlums, prostitutes, and dirty cops.
The anime is very dirty and bloody which I love. I'm totally not into cutesy anime at all.
*SPOILER ALERTS BELOW*
I'm Alex Benedetto, a former prostitute who joins the Handymen after they eliminate her abusive boyfriend and gang leader, Barry. I usually only cosplay strong fighting girls, but made an exception this time because I really wanted to be part of a group!

Left is Nicolas Brown (outfit from the 2nd episode), a half Asian, superhuman 'Twilight' who has gained his abilities from the drug Celebrer. Nicolas is deaf and communicates via sign language and is a boss with a katana.
Right is Worick Arcangelo, a gigolo since he was 13. Nico worked as Worick's guard when they were children and killed his entire family after witnessing Worick's father put out a cigarette in Worick's left eye. Nice.

I have to say, we are all look quite similar to the characters! Especially Mickey, whom quite a few people recognised as Worick. All our heights and races are fairly spot on!
I have only been part of the cosplay community for a year, but already I feel like I have made so many new friends. It's so lovely to be able to enter a con and immediately spot several friends to have a chat with.

Ahh cosplay and conventions, my beacon of light in an otherwise dark time.
Now please tell me, what has life thrown at you recently?
